Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), in collaboration with State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), has introduced a set of reforms aimed at addressing long-standing concerns of IT exporters, especially in relation to regulatory processes and foreign exchange matters. This initiative marks a step forward in creating a more supportive operational environment for Pakistan’s tech and IT-enabled services sector. Among the recent updates, the PRC (Proceeds Realization Certificate) forms have been upgraded to better reflect the business needs of IT exporters. These improvements are expected to reduce administrative friction and improve documentation processes for companies bringing in foreign revenue.
In addition to the upgraded PRC forms, a key development includes the establishment of dedicated bank branches and assigned focal persons specifically trained to support IT exporters. These resources are positioned to facilitate smoother engagement around Exporters’ Special Foreign Currency Accounts (ESFCA) and related regulatory compliance. This move is intended to streamline banking processes and make it easier for exporters to manage foreign inflows, access funds, and remain in line with SBP regulations.
These collaborative efforts reflect ongoing dialogue between the tech industry and relevant government institutions to foster a policy and banking ecosystem that can keep pace with Pakistan’s rapidly growing digital economy. With IT exports becoming an increasingly important component of the country’s overall economic strategy, clarity and efficiency in financial operations have become a pressing need for businesses operating in this space.
As part of this continuous improvement effort, PSEB has invited actionable feedback from the IT export community to assess the real-world impact of these changes. Exporters are encouraged to participate by completing a short online feedback form by July 25, 2025, available at https://lnkd.in/dJHt5iZ8. This input will help identify remaining challenges and guide further enhancements to regulatory and operational support for exporters.
PSEB has reiterated its commitment to improving service delivery and working in close partnership with SBP and commercial banks to ensure exporters receive timely assistance and clear guidance. These measures are part of broader efforts to position Pakistan as a leading destination for global tech outsourcing, with an emphasis on transparency, efficiency, and responsiveness.
The reforms come at a time when global demand for IT and ITeS services continues to grow, and Pakistan’s digital sector is looking to expand its footprint in international markets. By addressing foundational issues such as banking support and regulatory clarity, the reforms aim to build industry confidence and unlock new growth opportunities for exporters operating across software development, BPO, SaaS, and other digital service domains.
