Information technology companies operating in Punjab have until the end of today, Tuesday March 31, to register for the second cohort of the Chief Minister Information Technology Internship Program, with the registration portal at cmitinterns.punjab.gov.pk closing at midnight. The programme, which is administered through PITB and backed by the Government of Punjab, offers a financially structured pathway for PSEB-registered technology firms to onboard fresh information technology and computer science graduates as paid on-site interns, with the government absorbing the majority of the associated cost.

The financial model underpinning CMITIP’s second cohort is designed to make participation accessible and attractive for companies across the size spectrum. The Government of Punjab funds a monthly stipend of PKR 50,000 per intern, while participating companies receive PKR 12,500 per intern each month as administrative support to offset the operational costs of hosting, mentoring, and managing interns within their teams. This arrangement allows companies to bring on talent without the full financial burden of an in-house hire, while retaining complete control over which graduates they select and how they structure the training experience to align with their specific technical requirements and workflows.

To be eligible, companies must meet three conditions: registration with PSEB (Pakistan Software Export Board), a functional office located within Punjab province, and a proper working environment suitable for on-site internship activity. For technology firms that have been considering expanding their teams but have been cautious about committing to full-time hires, CMITIP offers a de-risked entry point into talent development that can feed directly into long-term recruitment pipelines. With today marking the absolute final opportunity to register for the second cohort, PSEB-registered IT companies in Punjab that have not yet submitted their applications are urged to do so before the portal closes at cmitinterns.punjab.gov.pk.
