The federal government has officially relaunched the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme for 2025, reinforcing its commitment to empowering Pakistan’s youth through digital access and skill development. As part of the broader Digital Youth Hub programme, this major initiative aims to distribute 100,000 laptops to high-achieving students across the country, creating new opportunities for learning, innovation, and professional growth.

Open to students from all academic disciplines, the 2025 edition of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme emphasizes a transparent, merit-based selection process. The initiative is designed to ensure that deserving students, particularly those demonstrating academic excellence and financial need, receive the tools necessary to thrive in an increasingly digital world. By focusing on fairness and inclusion, the scheme seeks to bridge the digital divide and promote equal access to educational resources, especially for students from remote and underserved areas.

Federal authorities have made it clear that the distribution of laptops is more than a symbolic gesture; it is a strategic investment in Pakistan’s future. By equipping the next generation of leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs with essential digital tools, the government hopes to drive broader socio-economic progress and create a more competitive, knowledge-based economy. Eligible students currently enrolled in public sector universities are encouraged to apply before the deadline of May 20, 2025. Applications can be submitted through the official Digital Youth Hub platform, available both via a dedicated website (www.pmyp.gov.pk) and through mobile apps for Android and iOS devices. In a bid to make the application process more accessible and user-friendly, detailed step-by-step guidelines have also been provided to assist students.

The application process requires candidates to first create an account by signing up with their university credentials and personal information. After completing the detailed application form and uploading necessary documents—such as academic transcripts and proof of enrollment—students must carefully review their submissions before finalizing the application. This meticulous process is designed to ensure authenticity, transparency, and equal opportunity for all applicants. Government officials have stressed that priority will be given to students who not only excel academically but also come from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. This approach highlights a dual focus: recognizing academic merit while simultaneously addressing economic barriers that often limit access to technology and education for many young Pakistanis.

The relaunch of the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme comes at a crucial time when digital skills are increasingly essential for participation in both the global workforce and the local economy. From online education and research to entrepreneurship and freelance work, laptops have become indispensable tools for personal and professional development. By providing high-achieving students with the necessary technology, the government is investing in the human capital that will drive Pakistan’s future growth and innovation. In addition to facilitating access to devices, the Digital Youth Hub programme aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem where young people can also access online courses, career resources, and digital skills training. This holistic approach ensures that beneficiaries of the laptop scheme are not only equipped with hardware but are also given the tools to succeed in an evolving digital landscape.

As the application deadline approaches, excitement and anticipation are building across universities nationwide. Students and educational institutions alike are welcoming the initiative, recognizing it as a major step towards reducing educational inequalities and enhancing Pakistan’s global competitiveness. With the 2025 Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme now officially underway, Pakistan is once again reaffirming its belief in the transformative power of education, technology, and youth empowerment. The nation watches with optimism as a new generation of digitally equipped students prepares to shape a brighter, more inclusive future.
