Poco, Xiaomi’s affordable smartphone brand, has confirmed that it will launch the Poco X8 Pro series next week, with the official unveiling scheduled for 17 March at around noon UK time. The announcement, made via an X post, describes the upcoming series as offering “A new breakthrough” for the X lineup and emphasizes “Speed to the max,” suggesting a focus on high-performance features. Notably, the series is being referred to as the “Poco X8 Pro series,” indicating that two models will be introduced: the Poco X8 Pro and the Poco X8 Pro Max, confirming earlier rumors about a dual-Pro offering.

Leaked specifications point to significant upgrades, particularly for the Pro Max model. It is expected to run on a Dimensity 9500s processor and feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED display with peak brightness of 2000 nits. Battery capacity is set to impress, with claims of an 8500mAh unit supporting 100W wired charging, positioning the device as one of the most capable mid-range smartphones in terms of endurance. Meanwhile, the Poco X8 Pro is likely to include a 6.59-inch 1.5K 120Hz OLED display, powered by a Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, along with a 6500mAh battery, offering a balance between performance and portability.

Reports also suggest that the Poco X8 Pro could be a rebadged Redmi Turbo 5, while the X8 Pro Max aligns with the Redmi Turbo 5 Max. The X7 Pro, launched last year, received praise for its ergonomic design, strong battery life, dependable camera, and consistent performance at a price around £300. The upcoming Pro Max is expected to come at a higher price point, reflecting its upgraded specifications. With these features, both devices aim to compete with prominent mid-range smartphones such as Google Pixel 10a, Nothing Phone 4a, and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A57.

The Poco X8 Pro series reflects the brand’s continued strategy of providing high-specification devices at competitive prices, combining large, high-quality displays, robust processors, and substantial battery capacities with user-friendly software and design. As anticipation builds for the launch, the new series is expected to attract mid-range smartphone buyers seeking devices that combine performance, efficiency, and affordability. Industry observers note that with dual Pro models, Poco is positioning itself to capture attention in both performance-focused and battery-conscious segments of the mid-tier market, extending its reach and reinforcing its presence in the competitive smartphone landscape.
