Surveyor General of Pakistan Major General Kamal Asfar met with Pakistan Digital Authority Chairman Dr. Sohail Munir to discuss collaboration on the development of a National Spatial Data Infrastructure and the establishment of geospatial standards for Pakistan. The meeting focused on strengthening coordination between the two organizations to support a more integrated and technology driven approach to managing geospatial data and digital public infrastructure across the country.

A key area of discussion was the ongoing work on establishing a Unique Property Identification system aimed at creating a standardized, transparent and digitally integrated framework for property management. The proposed system is intended to improve the identification and management of land and property records while supporting greater consistency across government institutions. Participants also discussed geospatial standardization, digitization of land administration systems and aligning national frameworks with internationally recognized standards and best practices.

The meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration between Pakistan Digital Authority and the Surveyor General of Pakistan in developing interoperable digital systems. As the national institution responsible for data governance, Pakistan Digital Authority is working to promote standardized digital infrastructure, while the Surveyor General of Pakistan continues to lead efforts related to geospatial data management. The coordination between the two organizations is expected to improve data sharing, interoperability and the use of digital technologies across public sector services.

Both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to working together on initiatives that support the development of a technology enabled real estate ecosystem and modern geospatial infrastructure. The collaboration is expected to contribute to Pakistan’s broader digital transformation agenda by improving data governance, enhancing land administration processes and supporting the adoption of standardized digital systems for public sector institutions.
