The ICT Administration Islamabad, in collaboration with the National Information Technology Board, has launched a new online registration system for factories and shops and commercial establishments across the capital territory, marking a move toward replacing manual paperwork-based processes with a fully automated digital platform. The initiative is aimed at simplifying business registration for entrepreneurs and industrial operators, cutting down on procedural delays that have long been a friction point for those seeking to formally register their businesses with the relevant authorities in Islamabad.
Alongside the online registration system, authorities have also introduced the Labour Inspection Management System, referred to as LIMS, which is designed to automate workplace inspections and improve monitoring of labour law compliance across registered businesses. Under this system, inspections will be digitally scheduled, tracked, and recorded, allowing authorities to ensure more consistent enforcement of workplace safety and labour regulations while also bringing a greater degree of transparency to a process that has historically been difficult to monitor centrally. The availability of real-time data on both registered businesses and ongoing inspection activities is expected to benefit not only regulators but also the public, who will be able to track compliance status more effectively through the platform.
Officials described the twin launches as part of broader efforts to modernize governance in Islamabad, improve the efficiency of public service delivery, and raise standards of transparency and accountability within the city’s labour and business registration framework. The new systems are expected to significantly reduce processing times for business registrations and ease the administrative burden on both applicants and the departments responsible for managing these processes. For a capital territory that has seen growing commercial activity in recent years, the shift to digital regulatory infrastructure is being positioned as a practical step toward making Islamabad a more business-friendly environment and reducing the friction that entrepreneurs typically face when seeking compliance with government requirements.
