At the Indus AI Summit held in Islamabad, international technology leaders emphasized Pakistan’s growing relevance in the global artificial intelligence landscape, pointing to the country’s demographic advantage and expanding technical workforce as key strengths. Mark Kelly of Resecurity shared his perspective on why Pakistan could emerge as a significant force in the global AI race, noting that nations with young populations and scalable technical capacity are well positioned to accelerate innovation. The summit, organized with the support of Ministry of IT and Telecommunication Pakistan and Pakistan Software Export Board PSEB, served as a platform for dialogue on how Pakistan can leverage its talent base to build competitive AI solutions for global markets.
Kelly highlighted that Pakistan possesses one of the largest youth populations in the world, a factor that can translate into sustained innovation if supported by the right policy frameworks, investment channels, and industry partnerships. He observed that rapid growth in technical education and software development capabilities has already positioned the country as an emerging technology hub. According to him, the global technology community should pay closer attention to the innovation coming out of the region, particularly in artificial intelligence applications that address real world operational and industrial challenges. Discussions at the summit centered on how Pakistan can move from being a services focused technology market to becoming a creator of scalable AI driven platforms and solutions.
In a separate conversation during the summit, Serdar Alemdar, President of ODTÜ Teknokent in Türkiye, spoke about the importance of strong innovation ecosystems in advancing artificial intelligence and deep technology sectors. He underscored the potential for collaboration between Pakistan and Türkiye in AI research, education, and startup acceleration, stating that both countries possess complementary strengths that can be aligned for mutual growth. Alemdar noted that structured partnerships between technology parks, universities, and government backed initiatives can significantly enhance cross border knowledge exchange and commercial development of AI products.
The discussions reflected a broader emphasis on international cooperation as a catalyst for industrial transformation in the digital age. Speakers pointed to the need for integrated ecosystems that connect academia, startups, investors, and policymakers in order to accelerate the deployment of artificial intelligence across industries. By facilitating high level exchanges between global technology leaders and local stakeholders, Indus AI Summit Islamabad reinforced Pakistan’s ambition to strengthen its position within the global AI ecosystem while fostering partnerships that extend beyond regional boundaries.
