Honor has confirmed the official launch date for its Robot Phone in China, with the device set to be introduced on August 12. The announcement follows earlier confirmation from the company that it plans to showcase the device at an Imaging Technology Launch Event held in collaboration with Arri, the well known cinema camera and lighting company. Reservations for the Robot Phone had already opened in China earlier this month, ahead of the confirmed launch date.

Honor has not yet released the phone’s complete specifications, though a recent leak claims the device will run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The same leak suggests the phone could include a 6,000mAh battery, positioning it among devices with larger battery capacities in its segment. On the camera side, the phone is expected to feature a 200MP main camera built around a robotic arm gimbal mechanism, along with a 200MP periscope telephoto camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera, giving the device a notably camera focused specification sheet if the leaked details prove accurate.

An unboxing video that surfaced on Weibo has offered an early look at the phone’s design and retail packaging. The footage shows the device’s large rear camera module, with the robotic arm gimbal positioned on the left side and the remaining cameras along with the LED flash placed on the right side of the module. When not in active use, the gimbal mechanism sits flush against the phone’s body and is protected by a dedicated cover, an approach designed to keep the moving component protected during everyday handling. The video also showed the camera app’s animation sequence that plays when the gimbal camera is activated, giving an early glimpse of how the feature will function once the phone becomes available.

According to the leaked footage, the retail box for the Robot Phone will include a protective case, a charging cable, and a 120W fast charger, suggesting Honor is positioning the device with fast charging as one of its core features alongside its camera system. The robotic gimbal design represents an unusual approach to smartphone photography, moving away from conventional multi lens camera arrays toward a mechanically adjustable single unit capable of physical movement, a concept that has drawn attention in early coverage of the device ahead of its official unveiling next month.
