Google Gemini Live is offering users a more natural way to interact with artificial intelligence by allowing them to communicate through spoken conversations rather than relying only on typed prompts. The feature is designed to make interaction with Gemini feel more like a regular conversation, allowing users to ask questions, change topics and interrupt the assistant while it is responding. Instead of typing a detailed request and waiting for a response, users can tap the Live option and speak directly with Gemini. The conversational format can be useful when users are travelling, cooking, working on another activity or simply prefer speaking instead of typing. Google says Gemini can understand and respond in supported languages when users speak through Gemini Live, with language availability depending on the service and settings. Google support documentation confirms that Gemini Apps can understand and reply in supported languages when users speak through Gemini Live, while Urdu is among the languages available across Google Gemini services.

A key part of Gemini Live is its ability to handle conversations that do not follow a fixed question and answer format. Users can interrupt the assistant when they want to clarify something, provide additional information or move to another question. This makes the interaction more flexible than traditional voice assistants that generally expect users to wait for a response before continuing. Gemini Live can be used for a range of everyday activities, including gathering information, discussing ideas, learning about different subjects and planning tasks. The feature can also be useful for language learning, as users can practice spoken conversations rather than limiting their interaction to written prompts. Google has continued expanding Gemini Live across its mobile applications, while the Gemini experience is available across multiple languages and countries. The availability of specific capabilities can differ by device, language and region, so users may not receive every Gemini Live function at the same time.

Gemini Live also goes beyond voice by allowing users to provide visual information through camera and screen sharing. With camera sharing, users can show Gemini what is in front of them and ask questions about objects, surroundings or other visual information. Google previously introduced visual guidance in Gemini Live that allows the assistant to respond based on what users show through their camera. Screen sharing similarly allows users to provide Gemini with information displayed on their phone, giving the assistant additional context when answering questions or helping with a task. These capabilities can be useful when explaining something visually would be difficult through speech alone. For example, users can show an object rather than describe it in detail, or share their screen when they need assistance with something displayed on their device. Google has positioned Gemini Live as a more visual and conversational assistant, combining voice interaction with visual context instead of limiting conversations to text.

The development of Gemini Live reflects the growing use of voice and visual interfaces in consumer artificial intelligence applications. Rather than requiring users to learn how to phrase every request as a written prompt, conversational AI allows people to communicate in a more familiar way by speaking naturally and continuing the discussion as questions develop. The addition of camera and screen sharing further expands the types of information users can provide to an AI assistant, particularly when a question depends on something visible in the physical or digital environment. For users in multilingual markets, language support can also make AI services more accessible, although the precise languages and functions available can vary depending on the product and region. Google continues to update Gemini across its products, with Gemini Live forming part of the company wider effort to make AI assistance more interactive through voice, visual information and ongoing conversation.
