Twitter’s drastic makeover

Twitter is betting that bigger is better with a new look designed to entice new users. The redesigning of Twitter is quite similar to Facebook. For instance the cover photo now spans the full width of your browser and is overlaid with a profile photo. The emphasis on larger images replicates Facebook’s focus with its own recent redesign. In the same way Twitter is also changing the way one view tweets. The redesigned profile page lets you pin a tweet to the top, which will instantly give other users a fair idea of what kind of content to expect from you. Tweets with a lot of retweets and replies will be larger than the other tweets in one’s stream.

Voicing out- Local mobile network satisfaction

Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, of Pakistanis owning a mobile phone and using a network. A surprising 97% of Warid users say they are happy with the quality of network service provided by the company. Mobilink is second in place with 95% of its users satisfied by the network provided to them. A nationally representative sample of mobile phone owning adult, men and women, from across the four provinces was asked “How happy are you with the quality of network service provided by your mobile company?” With regards to Telenor, 37% of the users were very happy whereas 57% of them were somewhat happy and 7% of the lot, not happy at all. 43% of Zong users claimed they were content with their network compared to 48% who were claimed it to be satisfactory and 8% who were not happy at all. As for Ufone, 47% said they had no issues whatsoever, 42% said they were just fine with it and 10% replied mentioning they weren’t happy at all.

Officially dead

Windows XP is officially dead. 30% of the world’s 1.5 billion PCs still run Windows XP and that’s only counting internet-connected PCs, too.  Microsoft has officially end-of-lifed (EOL) Windows XP. If you factor in computers that are hiding behind governmental and institutional firewalls and non-PCs there could be billions of computers still running Windows XP till date.
