Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards 2025 Open In Kaohsiung With Global Delegations And Pakistan’s Representation

The Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards 2025 commenced in Kaohsiung with an opening ceremony attended by international officials, industry leaders, and delegates from across the Asia Pacific region. The ceremony featured the participation of Hou Yi Hsiu, Deputy Minister of MODA, and Chen Chi Mai, Mayor of Kaohsiung City, alongside more than one hundred leaders representing various nations and technology bodies. Their presence set a welcoming tone for a week of activities centered on collaboration within the region’s expanding information and communication technology landscape. The gathering is recognised as one of the most significant regional platforms for highlighting innovation, talent, and cross border knowledge exchange within the ICT sector.

Pakistan’s delegation, representing PASHA and the broader national technology ecosystem, played an active role during the inauguration. The group included PASHA Chairman Sajjad Syed, who also serves as an EXCO member, as well as Dr Shoab Khan, an EXCO member and judge. The delegation further featured judges Shahzad Shahid, Khuram Idrees, and Usman Akram, along with Zain Tariq who serves as Economy Coordinator for APICTA. Their involvement continues Pakistan’s ongoing engagement within the alliance and reflects the country’s commitment to showcasing its technology capabilities on regional platforms. Delegations from multiple countries use the APICTA Awards as an opportunity to share progress, strengthen networks, and highlight achievements in digital transformation.

The ceremony began with a ribbon cutting that officially opened the event, signalling the start of several days of evaluations, presentations, and knowledge sharing sessions. This moment underscored the collaborative spirit of APICTA, bringing together representatives from government, industry, and technology communities. Kaohsiung’s local identity was highlighted through the appearance of the Formosan Black Bear Mascot, which greeted participants throughout the opening. The mascot symbolised the city’s culture and hospitality, presenting a light hearted and inviting atmosphere for visitors arriving from different parts of the world. Such elements helped create a friendly environment for dialogue and connection, something that has long been a hallmark of APICTA gatherings.

The APICTA Awards are known for facilitating important interactions between innovators, experts, and emerging enterprises. As the 2025 edition progresses, participating teams will present solutions across a range of categories, reflecting advancements in software, digital services, public sector innovation, and educational technology. For Pakistan’s representatives, the event provides a significant opportunity to support local competitors, observe regional technology benchmarks, and engage in discussions shaping the ICT sector. With several sessions, evaluations, and networking events scheduled throughout the program, the ceremony marked the beginning of a comprehensive showcase of regional progress.
