NVIDIA has recently launched a new AI Research Residency program, a 12-month program within NVIDIA Research that is intended for PhDs in fields adjacent to AI in order to gain and develop expertise in machine learning research.
The residency program is aimed at encouraging scholars with diverse academic backgrounds to pursue machine learning research as stated by Jan Kautz, vice president of perception and learning research at NVIDIA.
It is a paid program where residents will be paired with an NVIDIA research scientist on a joint project and have the opportunity to publish and present their findings at prominent research conferences such as CVPR, ICLR and ICML. The resident will be based at the NVIDIA HQ in Santa Clara.
During the program, the residents will get up to speed in machine learning; read and learn about prior work; with the help of their mentor, define their research project; follow through on your research project, including implementation and evaluation; and write up their research results in the form of an academic paper and submit to a relevant conference.
To be eligible the participants need to demonstrated research experience in mathematics, physics, signal processing, statistics, neuroscience, or computer science, with a track record of research excellence with a strong publication record, along with excellent communication skills, coding experience in a programming language like Python, MATLAB, or C/C++, familiarity with a deep learning framework, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is a plus and come research experience in machine learning is a plus.
