Xiaomi’s next flagship lineup is expected to arrive in September, with the company reportedly preparing to launch the Xiaomi 18, Xiaomi 18 Pro, and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. Reports suggest these devices could become among the first smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset series, built on an advanced 2nanometre manufacturing process expected to bring notable gains in performance and power efficiency.

A new leak from Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, shared on Weibo, has revealed key details about the Xiaomi 18 Pro specifically. According to the leak, the Xiaomi 18 Pro will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series chipset, with some reports suggesting it may specifically be the standard Gen 6 variant rather than the higher end Gen 6 Pro expected in the larger Xiaomi 18 Pro Max. The phone is also expected to feature an ultra clear flat display with large rounded corners and extremely narrow, symmetrical bezels on all four sides, continuing Xiaomi’s recent shift away from curved screen designs.

The camera setup appears to be one of the phone’s biggest highlights. The leak claims Xiaomi will equip the device with a 200 megapixel primary camera using an ultra large sensor, alongside a second 200 megapixel periscope telephoto camera that also supports macro photography. If accurate, this would mark a significant departure from the triple 50 megapixel camera array used on the current Xiaomi 17 Pro, concentrating resolution into two larger sensors instead of spreading it across three. The device is also expected to continue Xiaomi’s partnership with Leica for its camera optics, a feature that has become a signature element of the company’s recent flagship phones.

Beyond the cameras, Xiaomi is reportedly improving the phone’s multimedia capabilities, with the Xiaomi 18 Pro expected to feature upgraded dual speakers and a larger vibration motor for improved audio and haptic feedback. Battery life may also see a major upgrade, with the leak suggesting a capacity of at least 7,000 mAh, up substantially from the 6,300 mAh battery in the current Xiaomi 17 Pro, along with support for 100W wired charging and wireless charging capability.

It remains unclear whether the Xiaomi 18 Pro will ship with Android 17 out of the box, and Xiaomi has not officially confirmed any of these specifications. Industry reports have also pointed to a likely price increase across the Xiaomi 18 series compared to its predecessor, driven by rising component costs, the adoption of next generation chip manufacturing, larger camera sensors, and higher capacity batteries, a trend expected to affect many flagship Android devices launching later this year. Qualcomm is expected to formally unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series at its Snapdragon Summit event in Hawaii on September 24, positioning the Xiaomi 18 Pro among the first wave of flagship phones built around the new chipset once it becomes available.
