Virtual University of Pakistan is set to host a three day summer bootcamp on game development for young learners, running from July 21 to July 23 at the university’s campus on Raiwind Road in Lahore. The programme, organised by the university’s Professional Development Center, is designed for children between the ages of 10 and 15, with sessions running daily from 9 AM to 12 PM.
Titled Become a Young Game Developer, the bootcamp is aimed at introducing participants to the basics of designing, building, and playing their own games over the course of the three day programme. Organisers said the course requires no prior coding experience, positioning it as an entry point for children who have an interest in gaming or technology but have not yet had formal exposure to programming or game design concepts.
According to the Professional Development Center, the bootcamp is intended to help participants improve creativity, build problem solving skills, and gain early exposure to the kind of logical thinking involved in software development. Sessions will be delivered by trainers experienced in game development instruction, with participants receiving a certificate of participation upon completing the programme. Organisers have indicated that seating for the bootcamp is limited, encouraging interested parents to register their children in advance.
The registration fee for the programme has been set at Rs1,500, with interested applicants able to register through a link shared by the university’s Professional Development Center. The bootcamp adds to a small but growing number of youth focused technology training programmes being offered by Pakistani universities and training centres during the summer months, reflecting increased interest in introducing children to coding, game design, and other digital skills from an early age.
Virtual University of Pakistan, a federal government university known primarily for its distance learning model delivered through recorded lectures and virtual campuses across the country, has increasingly expanded into short, in person skills based training through its Professional Development Center in recent years. The centre has previously run various short courses and workshops aimed at building practical skills outside the university’s core degree programmes, with the upcoming game development bootcamp representing its latest effort to engage a younger, non traditional audience through hands on, project based learning delivered over a short and accessible format.
