The government of Sindh has made the decision to introduce electric taxi services for Karachi residents, including pink taxis operated by women for female clients.

“In Karachi, the government will launch electric vehicle (EV) taxi services. The Sindh Mass Transit Authority and I have formally agreed to launch this taxi service “Sharjeel Inam Memon, the minister of Sindh’s transportation, spoke to reporters in Karachi on Tuesday.

He stated that the service would launch in two parts, using cabs that were blue and pink in colour.

“We’ll start with Karachi’s exclusive pink cab service for female passengers. The pink cabs’ drivers will all be female, “said he.
To assure the safety and security of the passengers and drivers, he claimed that the pink taxis will be fitted with cameras and a monitoring system.

In comparison to normal taxi and ride-hailing services, he continued, electric taxi services would be safer, more economical, and more comfortable for the city’s residents.

The government will link the recently launched Orange Bus Rapid Transportation Service (BRTS) with the Green Line BRTS, according to the Sindh Information and Transport Minister, making it a financially viable mass transit service.

Memon said that improvements to public transit alternatives were being made by the government in Karachi and other significant regions of the province. He anticipated that the provincial capital would undergo revolutionary changes soon.
