Task Force Formed to Boost Tech Adoption in Pakistan’s Agriculture

Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has announced the formation of a task force to promote the adoption of technology in the agriculture sector. The task force will comprise experts and stakeholders and aim to enhance crop yield and productivity.

Addressing a roundtable jointly organized by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and the Federation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), the minister emphasized the crucial role of agriculture in Pakistan’s economy. He called for the integration of technology to improve productivity and address challenges faced by the sector.

Hussain stressed the importance of bridging the gap between experts and farmers to facilitate the adoption of modern agricultural practices. He highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting youth involvement in the sector through training programs in China.

SDPI Executive Director Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri underscored the significance of precision agriculture technologies in mitigating the impacts of climate change. He emphasized the role of the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP) in developing advanced technological solutions for farmers.

FPCCI Chairman Chaudhry Ahmad Jawad highlighted the importance of the agriculture sector and its contribution to the economy. He emphasized the need for sustainable growth and the role of technology in achieving this goal.

The roundtable discussions focused on the potential of precision agriculture technologies to transform Pakistan’s agricultural landscape and improve the livelihoods of farmers.
