Sindh Special Assistant to the Chief Minister and Minister for Information Technology Ali Rashid met Minister of State and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Digital Media Fahd Haroon to discuss matters related to digital media, technology and Pakistan’s broader digital transformation agenda. The meeting brought together representatives from the provincial and federal levels to exchange views on the country’s evolving digital landscape and the increasing role of technology in government, communication and public services. The discussion comes as government institutions across Pakistan continue adopting digital platforms and exploring technology-based approaches to improve administrative processes, communication and citizen engagement. The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss areas where federal and provincial coordination could support the development of Pakistan’s digital ecosystem.

During the meeting, both officials exchanged perspectives on developments in digital media and technology and discussed the importance of continued collaboration between federal and provincial institutions. Digital transformation increasingly requires coordination across different levels of government, particularly when initiatives involve digital infrastructure, online services, public communication and technology policies. Cooperation between provincial IT departments and federal digital institutions can help align priorities and support the implementation of technology-driven initiatives across different regions. The engagement between Ali Rashid and Fahd Haroon reflects the ongoing efforts of government stakeholders to maintain dialogue around Pakistan’s digital development and identify areas where institutions can work together.

The discussion also comes at a time when digital technologies are becoming increasingly integrated into governance and public-sector operations in Pakistan. Government departments are expanding their use of online platforms, digital communication channels and technology-enabled services to improve accessibility and efficiency. Digital media has similarly become an important channel for government communication, allowing institutions to share information and engage with citizens through online platforms. Strengthening coordination between policymakers and technology-related departments can therefore contribute to more consistent digital initiatives and better integration of technology into public administration.

The meeting concluded in a cordial atmosphere, with both sides expressing interest in continued engagement on relevant areas. While no specific new project or agreement was announced, the interaction highlights the importance being placed on collaboration between federal and provincial stakeholders as Pakistan advances its digital transformation efforts. Continued coordination could help support initiatives involving digital governance, public communication, technology adoption and the wider development of the country’s digital economy.
