Islamabad Police has introduced the RIDDARA RD6 electric pickup into its public service fleet in collaboration with Capital Smart Motors, bringing electric vehicle technology into an operational environment where performance, reliability and practical utility are important requirements. The introduction of the vehicle represents an example of electric mobility being considered for institutional use rather than being limited to private transportation. The RIDDARA RD6 combines electric propulsion with the utility of a pickup, offering quiet operation and zero tailpipe emissions while retaining a configuration designed for practical use. For Islamabad Police, the addition provides an opportunity to use an electric vehicle in real-world public service conditions and assess how the technology performs in an environment where vehicles can spend long periods on the road and need to remain ready for operational requirements. Capital Smart Motors has positioned the initiative as part of a broader approach to examining where electric vehicles can work effectively within Pakistan mobility ecosystem. The company is looking beyond the conventional use of electric vehicles by considering applications where their technology and design can serve specific operational requirements.

Police vehicles have different requirements compared with ordinary passenger vehicles because they can be required to operate for extended periods and under demanding conditions. Reliability, availability and utility are important considerations when selecting vehicles for public service operations. The RIDDARA RD6 brings together the characteristics of an electric vehicle and a pickup, providing a different option for institutions considering changes to their vehicle fleets. Its electric powertrain enables quiet operation and zero tailpipe emissions, features that can be particularly relevant in an urban environment such as Islamabad. At the same time, its pickup configuration provides the versatility associated with a utility vehicle, making it suitable for tasks that require more practical space and capability than a conventional passenger car. The introduction by Islamabad Police therefore provides a real-world example of how electric mobility can be assessed outside the private consumer market. Instead of being presented solely as a vehicle for personal transportation, the RD6 is being used in a setting where its operational capabilities can be evaluated against the everyday demands of a public institution. This also gives greater visibility to the possibility of using electric vehicles across different areas of transportation as Pakistan continues to examine new mobility technologies.

The collaboration also reflects the approach being taken by Capital Smart Motors toward electric and new energy mobility. Rather than limiting electric vehicles to compact passenger cars or private buyers, the company is exploring applications where different vehicle formats can provide practical value. The RIDDARA RD6 is an example of this approach because it combines electric propulsion with the functionality of a pickup. Electric vehicles are often associated with urban commuting and personal transportation, but the introduction of an electric pickup into public service demonstrates another potential application for the technology. The vehicle can provide the benefits associated with electric propulsion while maintaining the utility required from a work-oriented vehicle. This type of institutional deployment can also provide an opportunity to evaluate electric mobility under practical conditions and determine how it performs when used as part of an operational fleet. The move comes as Pakistan continues to consider electric mobility as part of the future of transportation, with attention extending beyond individual consumers to businesses, organisations and public institutions. Capital Smart Motors Chief Operating Officer Abid S. Usmani has been associated with the company vision of promoting innovation, sustainability and electric mobility in Pakistan, with the company developing a portfolio that covers different forms of electric and new energy transportation.

The introduction of the RIDDARA RD6 into Islamabad Police fleet also highlights the role institutional adoption can play in the development of electric mobility. The transition toward electric transportation is not dependent only on consumers purchasing electric cars, as vehicles used by organisations and public services can also demonstrate how the technology performs in everyday operations. The collaboration between Islamabad Police and Capital Smart Motors provides one such example by placing an electric pickup in a public service environment where its functionality can be assessed through actual use. The initiative demonstrates that electric vehicles can be considered for specific operational purposes when their capabilities match the requirements of an institution. For Pakistan, such deployments can contribute to a wider understanding of where electric mobility can be practically applied, including public services, corporate operations and other institutional fleets. The RIDDARA RD6 addition is therefore an example of electric vehicle technology moving from the consumer market into public service, while Capital Smart Motors continues to explore applications for new energy mobility within the country.
