Punjab has set a deadline for the complete adoption of its e Filing and Office Automation System across government departments, marking another step in the province’s ongoing digitization efforts. The initiative is aimed at replacing traditional paper based processes with a centralized digital workflow that enables faster communication, improved record management and greater administrative efficiency. Government officials have directed departments and subordinate offices to ensure full implementation of the system within the prescribed timeframe as part of a broader strategy to modernize public sector operations and reduce reliance on manual procedures.

The e Filing and Office Automation System, developed with the support of Punjab Information Technology Board, is designed to streamline official correspondence, file movement and document management across government institutions. Through the platform, departments can process files electronically, track approvals in real time and maintain digital records in a secure environment. The transition is expected to reduce delays associated with physical documentation while improving transparency and accountability in administrative workflows. Provincial authorities have emphasized that the adoption of digital systems is necessary to meet growing operational demands and improve service delivery standards across public sector organizations.

Officials have instructed departments to ensure timely compliance with the directive, with progress expected to be monitored through system generated reports and implementation reviews. The move aligns with a wider provincial agenda focused on expanding digital governance initiatives and integrating technology into everyday administrative functions. Similar implementations have already been introduced in several government bodies, where electronic file management systems have been used to improve efficiency and minimize procedural bottlenecks. The adoption of automated workflows is also expected to support better coordination between departments and provide quicker access to information for decision making purposes.

The latest push for complete e Filing adoption reflects Punjab’s continuing focus on digital transformation within the public sector. By moving toward paperless operations, the government aims to create more efficient administrative structures while reducing operational costs associated with traditional file handling. As departments work toward meeting the implementation deadline, the initiative is expected to contribute to improved governance standards and support the broader objective of delivering public services through technology driven processes. The transition also complements ongoing Digital Pakistan objectives that encourage greater use of technology to modernize government operations and citizen services.
