Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) is establishing the country’s first-ever Women Software Technology Park (WSTP) in Women University Bagh, Azad Kashmir.

This 5,000 square foot facility will provide women in tech with a modern and secure workspace. The PSEB partnered with Women University Bagh to develop the WSTP, allocating 31 million rupees for its construction.

The WSTP initiative aligns with Pakistan’s goals of promoting gender equality, empowering women through technology, and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. It aims to create equal opportunities for women in the tech sector, while also addressing the industry’s gender gap and the urgent need for skilled IT professionals.

The park’s location in Bagh, a remote region with limited access to resources and opportunities, is strategic.  Women in this area often face challenges in pursuing careers in technology due to geographical isolation.  The WSTP will provide a local solution, eliminating the need for women to relocate to urban centers for tech jobs.

“This initiative aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” said PSEB officials.  “The WSTP will address gender disparities, promote innovation-driven economic growth, and facilitate sustainable development.”

The WSTP will also contribute to socio-economic development by creating jobs and enhancing skills within the local community.  This initiative builds upon PSEB’s existing efforts to promote technological innovation across Pakistan, with 43 software technology parks already established in various cities.
