Pakistan Software Export Board has signed a Youth Development Agreement with ZTE Pakistan, formalizing a collaboration aimed at building technical capacity among Pakistan’s next generation of information and communications technology professionals. The agreement was signed by PSEB Chief Executive Officer Faisal Jeddy and ZTE Deputy Chief Executive Officer Jiang Duxin at a signing ceremony witnessed by PSEB Chief Skill Development Officer Dr. Henna Karamat Durrani along with her team, and Muhammad Rizwan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of ZTE Corporation Pakistan, alongside the ZTE team. The signing marks a direct follow-up to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s official visit to China in September 2025, during which the Prime Minister met ZTE Corporation Chairperson Ms. Fang Rong alongside Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Secretary IT and Telecom Zarrar Khan, with a Memorandum of Understanding also signed during that visit by ZTE Chief Executive Officer Li Guowen and Deputy Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Rizwan Rathore.
Under the Youth Development Agreement, ZTE Pakistan will offer structured training programmes to students and faculty in advanced and emerging technologies including 5G, artificial intelligence, and modern communication technologies. The initiative targets training 100,000 students through online programmes, alongside a Training of Trainers component designed for 100 professionals, who will in turn scale knowledge dissemination across the country by building a multiplier effect into the programme architecture. The inclusion of a Training of Trainers stream is a deliberate design choice that extends the impact of the collaboration beyond its direct beneficiaries, ensuring that the expertise transferred through the programme becomes embedded in Pakistan’s educational institutions and training ecosystem rather than remaining confined to individual participants.
The collaboration is framed as part of a shared commitment to advancing digital transformation and building a future-ready information and communications technology talent pool in Pakistan, at a time when demand for professionals with expertise in 5G infrastructure and artificial intelligence is growing sharply across both the public and private sectors. For Pakistan Software Export Board, the agreement adds to a growing portfolio of international technology partnerships aimed at addressing the skills gap in Pakistan’s technology sector, which remains one of the primary constraints on the country’s ability to scale its information technology exports and deepen its participation in global digital supply chains. The agreement was supported by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and highlighted under the Tech Destination Pakistan platform, underscoring its alignment with the government’s broader agenda of positioning Pakistan as a competitive destination for technology investment, talent, and innovation.
