Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme 2025 has officially launched, aiming to distribute 100,000 laptops to talented students across the country in a major push toward digital transformation in education. Part of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), the scheme is designed to empower young students with tools for smart learning and enhanced digital access.

This initiative reflects Pakistan’s continued commitment to a Digital Pakistan, recognizing that access to modern technology is critical for quality education, innovation, and future-ready skills. The scheme is targeted toward high-performing students enrolled in public sector universities and degree-awarding institutions, enabling them to participate in a growing digital economy.

Implemented by government under a 100% merit-based selection process, the scheme ensures that only the most qualified students benefit. Students interested in applying can register online at www.pmyp.gov.pk, with the last date for applications set for May 20, 2025. All applicants are encouraged to review the detailed eligibility and merit criteria available on the portal before submission.

Using the campaign slogan #AaoKerDikhaen, the laptop scheme promotes the idea of youth-led innovation and self-empowerment. The message of “Facilitating Smart Education” emphasizes the scheme’s focus on not only distributing devices but also enhancing digital learning capacity among Pakistan’s student population.

Higher Education Commission (HEC) is overseeing the implementation of the scheme in collaboration with PMYP, ensuring transparent execution, student verification, and fair distribution of laptops. HEC has previously executed similar programs and is leveraging that experience for efficient rollout in 2025.

The scheme builds on previous laptop distributions under earlier phases, which played a vital role during the pandemic when students relied on digital devices for remote education. In 2025, the laptop scheme aligns with broader PMYP efforts to advance tech skills, promote entrepreneurship, and increase digital literacy among the youth.

PMYP and HEC have started promoting the initiative across social media platforms to maximize awareness. Students are advised to follow @PMsYouthProgram and @HECPakistan2022 for official updates, application tips, and support.

By equipping 100,000 students with laptops, government is making a strong investment in Pakistan’s youth and their digital future. For many students from underserved areas, this scheme can be a game-changer—opening access to online education, research, and professional development.

With the May 20 deadline fast approaching, students are encouraged to complete their applications early and ensure they meet all criteria. This opportunity not only enhances individual learning but contributes to building a stronger, tech-enabled educational ecosystem in Pakistan.
