The Planning Ministry is intensifying efforts to implement the 5Es framework, a comprehensive strategy aimed at revitalizing Pakistan and propelling it towards sustained growth. Under the directive of Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, a one-day consultative workshop will convene at the ministry within ten days to accelerate the framework’s execution.

This decision emerged during a meeting chaired by the minister, attended by the Secretary Planning and other senior officials. Minister Iqbal instructed stakeholders to engage the nation’s top experts across various domains for their insights before rolling out the framework. The 5Es framework encompasses exports, E-Pakistan, environment and climate change, energy and infrastructure, and equity and empowerment as its foundational pillars.

Addressing Pakistan’s significant challenge of inherited debt, Minister Iqbal voiced concern over the burden imposed by previous administrations. Despite these hurdles, he expressed confidence in the government’s capability to navigate challenges and steer the country towards economic stability. Innovative financing mechanisms were stressed, considering Pakistan’s constrained economic conditions, to bolster infrastructure development.

Minister Iqbal underscored the pivotal role of key sectors like agriculture, industry, and services, coupled with technological advancements, in Pakistan’s future growth trajectory. Setting an ambitious target, the aim is to elevate Pakistan into a $100 billion export-oriented economy within the next 7 to 8 years, marking a transformative phase in the nation’s journey.

Enhancing foreign exchange reserves emerged as a critical aspect for Pakistan’s success, alongside forward-looking planning that integrates modern infrastructure, acknowledging the profound influence of digital technology across various sectors in today’s era.
