Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, inaugurated the “Tech Destination Pakistan Pavilion” at London Tech Week. This global technology event brings together innovators and future tech talent, providing a platform for Pakistan to showcase its advancements.

Dr. Faisal expressed his enthusiasm for Pakistan’s participation, highlighting the country’s impressive IT industry and talented professionals. “Tech Destination Pakistan” aims to demonstrate this potential to the global tech community.

The pavilion features nine leading IT/ITeS companies representing a diverse range of technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), cloud solutions, and cybersecurity.  This showcases Pakistan’s capabilities beyond software development, encompassing areas like robotics and e-commerce.

Pakistan’s IT sector has witnessed remarkable growth, with the UK consistently ranking as the second-largest destination for its IT/ITeS exports for two years running. This success is attributed to a robust ecosystem: over 100 Software Technology Parks, a skilled workforce of 600,000 IT professionals, an annual influx of 75,000 graduates, and a thriving startup scene.

Pakistan’s abundant human resources are propelling it towards becoming a prominent global tech destination. Further bolstering this position is Kearney’s 2023 Global Services Location Index, ranking Pakistan as the most financially attractive location for offshore outsourcing services.

Pakistan Software Export Board actively promotes the country’s IT industry on the international stage. Shahbaz Hameed, Director of Business Development at PSEB, emphasized their collaborative efforts with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan in supporting Pakistani IT companies. This includes providing platforms for international exposure, fostering business expansion, and forging new partnerships.

Sirbuland from VIsnext, a participating company, commended PSEB and TDAP’s support. London Tech Week 2024 presents a valuable opportunity to showcase Pakistani IT/ITeS companies on a global platform, with a particular focus on the lucrative European market, especially the UK, a world leader in IT.

Despite challenges, Pakistan’s participation in major events this year signifies its growing impact in the tech industry. PSEB’s branding strategy of positioning Pakistan as a “Techdestination” and enhancing its international presence is yielding positive results. Building on prior successes at Leap, GITEX Dubai, and the Dublin Tech Summit, Pakistani IT companies are expanding their horizons and demonstrating their global competitiveness.
