Pakistan Assembles Over 11 Million Mobile Phones In 2026

Pakistan’s mobile phone manufacturing sector continued its upward trajectory during the first five months of 2026, with local assembly plants producing more than 11 million mobile phones between January and May. The latest figures highlight the growing contribution of domestic manufacturing to the country’s mobile device market and reflect the continued expansion of local production capabilities under policies designed to encourage technology manufacturing and reduce dependence on imported handsets.

According to industry data, locally assembled devices accounted for the overwhelming majority of mobile phones available in the Pakistani market during the period. Smartphone production remained a significant component of overall output, while feature phones also continued to contribute to total manufacturing volumes. The growth of domestic assembly operations has enabled manufacturers to meet rising consumer demand while supporting the development of a broader ecosystem that includes supply chain services, distribution networks and technical expertise. Several international and local brands now operate assembly facilities in Pakistan, contributing to the expansion of the sector and creating employment opportunities across various segments of the industry.

The increase in local handset production aligns with efforts to promote manufacturing through the Mobile Device Manufacturing Policy and related initiatives. Industry stakeholders have noted that domestic assembly has helped improve the availability of mobile devices across different price categories while supporting technology transfer and industrial development. As smartphone adoption continues to rise, manufacturers have expanded production capacity to meet demand for devices that support mobile broadband services, digital payments, online learning and e commerce activities. The growing availability of locally assembled smartphones has also contributed to broader digital inclusion objectives by making connected devices more accessible to consumers.

Pakistan’s telecommunications ecosystem has experienced steady growth in recent years, driven by increasing mobile penetration, expanding broadband coverage and rising demand for digital services. Mobile devices serve as the primary gateway to the internet for millions of users, making local manufacturing an important component of the country’s digital economy. The latest production figures indicate continued momentum within the sector as manufacturers respond to changing consumer preferences and evolving technology requirements. With further investment in manufacturing capabilities and continued demand for connected devices, local mobile phone assembly is expected to remain a key contributor to Pakistan’s telecommunications and technology landscape in the coming years.
