Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication is marking International Girls in Information and Communications Technology Day 2026 by hosting a free webinar themed “Artificial Intelligence for Development: Girls Shaping the Digital Future,” bringing together young women from across the country to explore opportunities in technology, hear from industry voices, and engage with the broader movement of female participation in the digital economy. The webinar is scheduled for 4:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time and will feature panels from ISACA Islamabad’s Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence communities, adding institutional credibility to what the ministry has framed as a celebration of innovation powered by girls.
International Girls in Information and Communications Technology Day, observed annually by the International Telecommunication Union, was established to close the gender gap in technology by encouraging girls and young women to consider careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has aligned with this global observance to highlight local pathways into the technology sector, at a time when the country’s information technology exports are growing and demand for skilled digital talent continues to outpace the available workforce pipeline. The webinar’s focus on artificial intelligence is particularly timely, given that the federal government has recently announced a USD 1 billion artificial intelligence investment fund and a target of training one million non-information technology professionals in artificial intelligence-related skills.
The session is structured around three areas of engagement: helping participants discover pathways available to them in information and communications technology, learning directly from industry voices with practical experience in the sector, and positioning attendees as part of a larger national and global movement working to make the digital world more inclusive. With ISACA Islamabad’s Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence panels contributing to the programme, participants will gain exposure to two of the fastest-growing and most strategically significant disciplines within the technology sector, both of which remain significantly underrepresented by women in Pakistan and globally.
The webinar is free of cost and open to all interested participants. Registration is available at https://lnkd.in/diwDDAzE. The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication’s decision to anchor the event around artificial intelligence for development reflects a deliberate effort to connect Pakistan’s women and girls with the technology domain that is most likely to define economic opportunity and national competitiveness over the coming decade.
