Karachi is set to witness a focused discussion on artificial intelligence adoption in governance as part of Indus AI Week celebrations scheduled from 9th to 15th February 2026 across Pakistan. A dedicated one day workshop titled Use of Artificial Intelligence in Public Sector Operations will take place on Saturday, 14th February 2026 at the Office of Commissioner Karachi located at Club Road, Civil Lines. The initiative aims to introduce administrative leadership to emerging AI tools and frameworks that can support efficiency, service delivery, and decision making within government departments.

The workshop is being organized by the Office of Commissioner Karachi under the leadership of Syed Hassan Naqvi, Commissioner Karachi, who has invited Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners from across Karachi Division to participate. The training session forms part of broader efforts to strengthen institutional capacity through technology awareness and hands-on exposure. Officials attending the event will gain insights into how artificial intelligence can support administrative processes, automate routine workflows, and improve citizen engagement mechanisms within public offices. The program reflects a growing recognition among policymakers that digital transformation within government requires both awareness and practical training for field level officers responsible for implementation.

According to the announced schedule, the workshop will begin with welcome and opening remarks by Commissioner Karachi, followed by an expert session on understanding artificial intelligence in governance delivered by Prof. Dr. Ali Ismail, Chairman and Director at NED University of Engineering and Technology. The session will explore the fundamentals of AI technologies and their potential applications in regulatory oversight, urban management, and data driven public administration. Participants will also attend a practical demonstration session led by Ammara Aftab, CEO of ProAI Global, where officers will be introduced to real world AI tools designed for operational use in government settings. The demonstration component is expected to help bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical adoption by showcasing use cases relevant to administrative functions.

The event also emphasizes the role of artificial intelligence in accelerating public sector modernization through better data utilization and improved responsiveness to citizen needs. Organizers state that the training is intended to support enhanced governance outcomes by enabling officers to understand how AI powered solutions can assist in resource allocation, monitoring systems, and service optimization. With Pakistan increasingly prioritizing digital transformation initiatives across federal and provincial levels, such capacity building programs are becoming essential to ensure that government institutions are prepared to integrate new technologies responsibly and effectively. The workshop aligns with the broader theme of Indus AI Week, which celebrates innovation across Pakistan and encourages collaboration between academia, industry, and government stakeholders to advance technological progress within the country.
