Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja is scheduled to address a public-private dialogue titled “Building the 5G Economy: Industry 4.0, Enterprise Uptake, and Ecosystem Preparedness” at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute conference hall in Islamabad today, May 14, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM PKT.

The dialogue comes at a particularly significant moment for Pakistan’s telecommunications sector, with the country having recently completed its spectrum auction and commercial fifth generation services now live across major cities through multiple operators. The SDPI session is focused on translating that network-level milestone into an economic one, examining how Pakistan’s industrial and enterprise sectors can meaningfully adopt fifth generation capabilities, what ecosystem conditions are required to support Industry 4.0 applications, and how the country can position itself for the transition to sixth generation connectivity that is already being planned in markets ahead of Pakistan in the rollout cycle.

Minister Khawaja is expected to outline the government’s sustainable roadmap for both fifth generation and future sixth generation deployment, giving industry stakeholders, policymakers, and researchers a clearer picture of the regulatory and investment environment that will shape Pakistan’s connectivity landscape over the coming decade. The session is particularly relevant for enterprise decision-makers evaluating whether to build fifth generation connectivity into their operational and digital transformation strategies, as well as for technology companies assessing the policy commitments that will underpin the commercial opportunity in Pakistan’s emerging fifth generation ecosystem. Those unable to attend in person can join the session online by registering at here.
