VEON and JazzWorld have reaffirmed their commitment to continued investment in Pakistan digital infrastructure and services during a meeting with Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman. A leadership delegation headed by VEON Group Chief Executive Officer Kaan Terzioğlu and JazzWorld Chief Executive Officer Aamir Ibrahim met with the PTA Chairman to discuss digital growth, telecom investment, quality of service and the regulatory environment. The delegation also included Jazz GSM President Kazim Mujtaba, Group Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Zaheer Mehdi and Head of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs Mudassar Hussain. The meeting focused on the development of the Pakistan telecom sector and the role of continued investment and regulatory cooperation in expanding digital connectivity across the country.
During the meeting, the delegation acknowledged PTA’s role in supporting digital development and welcomed progress made through the recent spectrum award and 5G licensing process. According to the company, the additional spectrum has enabled JazzWorld to accelerate its 4G and 5G network expansion. JazzWorld has already crossed 1,000 live 5G sites and is targeting more than 2,500 5G sites by the end of 2026. The expansion is part of the company’s broader investment in network infrastructure as demand for high speed mobile connectivity continues to increase. The additional spectrum is expected to provide JazzWorld with greater capacity to expand its network and improve access to newer mobile technologies in different areas.
VEON Chief Executive Officer Kaan Terzioğlu said Pakistan remains a strategic growth market for the group, while JazzWorld is committed to investing in the country’s digital future. He also highlighted the need for continued investment and policies that support a sustainable telecom sector as Pakistan progresses with its 5G rollout. JazzWorld Chief Executive Officer Aamir Ibrahim said the company is focused on translating its investments in 4G and 5G infrastructure into improved quality of service and wider digital inclusion. He added that maintaining this progress would require continued investment and cooperation between telecom operators, industry stakeholders and the regulatory ecosystem. The discussion therefore covered both infrastructure expansion and the broader requirements for making digital services accessible to a larger section of the population.
The leadership also discussed the broader development of JazzWorld beyond traditional telecommunications connectivity. The company’s digital ecosystem includes financial services, banking, insurance, technology and other digital solutions, reflecting its expansion into services that go beyond mobile connectivity. The meeting concluded with VEON and JazzWorld reaffirming their intention to continue working with PTA on sustainable investment, connectivity and service quality. The companies also reiterated their focus on contributing to Pakistan’s digital economy through continued network development and digital services. With JazzWorld targeting more than 2,500 live 5G sites by the end of 2026, the company’s planned expansion will remain an important part of the country’s ongoing transition toward wider 5G availability and increased mobile data capacity.
