Senior leadership from Zong visited the Sindh IT Company (SITC) office for a strategic meeting focused on potential collaboration between the telecom operator and the Government of Sindh. The meeting was chaired by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Science and Information Technology Ali Rashid, alongside Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Investment and Public Private Partnerships Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar and SITC CEO Zainulabedin Shah. Discussions centered on public-private partnership opportunities and the role of private-sector technology providers in supporting Sindh’s digital infrastructure.
A major focus of the meeting was Zong’s upcoming Karachi Data Center, which was discussed in the context of the province’s wider technology infrastructure requirements. Data centers provide the computing, storage, networking, and related facilities required to operate digital services, making them an important part of government digitization and cloud-based systems. Zong’s planned facility in Karachi could therefore form part of broader discussions around how private-sector infrastructure can support public-sector technology requirements. However, the post did not disclose the investment value, capacity, completion date, or operational specifications of the upcoming data center.
The participants also discussed the development of secure sovereign data center and cloud infrastructure for the Government of Sindh.
