Information technology companies operating in Punjab have just days left to register for the second cohort of the Chief Minister Information Technology Internship Program, commonly known as CMITIP, with the registration deadline set for Sunday, March 29. The programme, accessible through cmitinterns.punjab.gov.pk, is specifically designed to bridge the gap between industry demand and graduate talent by placing fresh information technology and computer science graduates directly into professional environments where they can be trained according to each company’s specific operational needs.

To be eligible, companies must meet three core requirements: registration with PSEB (Pakistan Software Export Board), a functional office located within Punjab province, and a proper working environment capable of supporting on-site internship activity. These criteria are aimed at ensuring that interns are placed in credible, professionally structured settings that can provide meaningful learning experiences rather than nominal participation.

The financial structure of the programme is designed to make participation attractive for companies of all sizes within the sector. The Government of Punjab funds a monthly stipend of PKR 50,000 per intern, while participating companies receive PKR 12,500 per intern as monthly administrative support to offset the operational costs of hosting and managing interns. This arrangement allows companies to select and onboard graduates of their choosing, build training pipelines tailored to their specific technical requirements, and develop a pool of future-ready talent that can feed directly into long-term hiring plans.

Beyond the immediate financial incentives, CMITIP represents a broader effort by the Punjab government to strengthen the province’s information technology ecosystem by creating structured pathways from academia into industry. For IT companies looking to scale their teams, contribute to workforce development, and engage with government-backed talent initiatives, the closing window for second cohort registration makes this a time-sensitive opportunity that warrants prompt action before the March 29 deadline.
