Atom Power (PRIVATE) Limited is set to transform the energy storage landscape in Pakistan with the launch of locally assembled lithium-ion batteries, marking a major milestone for the country’s energy sector. The Karachi-based company has begun assembling lithium-ion cells and plans to open a state-of-the-art cell-level manufacturing facility by the second quarter of 2025. This facility will significantly contribute to Pakistan’s industrial and energy development. In the next phase, Atom Power intends to produce these cells using locally sourced and purified graphite, enhancing the sustainability and efficiency of the product.

A subsidiary of Wavetec, Atom Power benefits from its parent company’s three decades of experience in providing advanced technology solutions across more than 70 countries. Wavetec’s expertise in delivering scalable, reliable systems is a key asset to Atom Power’s growth plans, both locally and internationally. Atom Power is poised to become a leader in the energy storage market by offering smart, reliable, and environmentally friendly energy storage solutions made in Pakistan.

“Our goal is to deliver locally manufactured, high-quality energy storage solutions that meet the highest industry standards, while ensuring they are accessible to all,” said Waqas Ahmad, CEO of Atom Power. He emphasized the company’s focus on rapid adaptation to market demands through its local manufacturing capabilities, which also promise to drive efficiency and sustainability.

The development of Atom Power’s advanced lithium-ion batteries is the result of extensive research and innovation led by a team of material scientists and chemical engineers. Under the guidance of Dr. Kamran, Head of R&D at Atom Power, the team has worked on sourcing materials locally, reducing Pakistan’s reliance on imports, and supporting the country’s growing economy. Dr. Kamran, a PhD holder in Energy Storage Technology, highlighted the potential of this local sourcing strategy to position Pakistan as a competitive player in the global energy market.

The batteries produced by Atom Power are expected to significantly impact the transition to a sustainable energy future, particularly in the field of renewable energy storage. With their high capacity and long-lasting power, these batteries will help industries, businesses, and households reduce energy costs, increase reliability, and provide essential backup power, especially in off-grid regions. This shift toward energy-efficient storage solutions will also contribute positively to Pakistan’s environmental goals.

Customer support is a crucial concern for buyers of energy storage products. Atom Power addresses this by having its manufacturing and R&D operations based in Pakistan, ensuring quick response times and reliable customer service. The local presence guarantees customers a trustworthy partner that can swiftly adapt to market needs and offer effective solutions.

With this groundbreaking achievement, Atom Power positions itself as a leader in Pakistan’s quest for energy security and sustainable industrial growth. The company’s commitment to innovation and self-sufficiency in energy storage solutions will drive technological advancements, create jobs, and further Pakistan’s position in the global energy market. As the first Pakistani company to locally manufacture lithium-ion cells, Atom Power’s efforts mark a pivotal step toward a more energy-secure and self-reliant future for the country.
