PSB iQ2 wireless hi-fi speakers combine the sound quality of traditional bookshelf speakers with wireless stereo functionality and modern connectivity options. The $1,399 speaker system has been designed for users who want a more capable home audio setup without giving up the convenience of streaming services and multi-room control. The speakers received an 8 out of 10 rating in an Engadget review, with the review highlighting their spacious stereo sound, extensive connectivity and polished application experience.
The PSB iQ2 has a compact design measuring approximately 9 by 6 inches, allowing the stereo pair to fit on TV stands, desks and other relatively small spaces. The speakers are available in seven color options, giving users several choices for matching their home interiors. Unlike many wireless speaker systems, the two iQ2 units do not require a cable between them, making placement more flexible and keeping the setup cleaner. Both speakers still require access to a power outlet, while one unit functions as the primary speaker and houses the physical connections. The primary speaker also includes touch sensitive controls for basic media and volume adjustments.
Connectivity is one of the main features of the iQ2 system. The speakers include HDMI with enhanced audio return channel (eARC), phono and line inputs, optical connectivity, USB Type A and USB Type C ports, Bluetooth with aptX Adaptive and AirPlay. Network sharing is also supported, giving users several ways to connect music sources and other home entertainment devices. The system does not include a 3.5mm audio connection, which means users with some older portable devices may need an RCA adapter. PSB also integrates the speakers with the BluOS controller application, allowing users to configure inputs, manage local music libraries, control playback and group compatible speakers for multi-room listening. Setup is designed to be straightforward, with the review noting that music playback through Spotify could be started within minutes of connecting the speakers.
Audio performance is another major focus of the PSB iQ2. The speakers produce a spacious stereo presentation with controlled low frequencies, while television and movie content benefits from a natural sound profile that avoids excessive bass. Music playback also benefits from the separation of the two speakers, particularly with electronic music and other dense recordings. Acoustic and rock tracks were described as easy to listen to, with mid and high frequencies that avoid sounding overly sharp. Vinyl playback through the built-in phono input was less impressive, with the review noting a somewhat narrower sound compared with other sources. PSB said during the review that it planned changes to the phono preamplifier following early feedback. The compact design also means the iQ2 is not intended to deliver wall shaking volume for large spaces. At $1,399, the system sits at a premium price point, but its combination of stereo sound, wireless setup, HDMI eARC, phono connectivity and BluOS makes it an option for users seeking a modern hi-fi system with extensive connection options.
