Animal rescue in Pakistan has received a significant boost with the launch of Woofy, the country’s first dedicated mobile app for reporting and responding to cases of injured, abandoned, or abused animals. The app was officially launched on Sunday, following extensive development by animal welfare activists Yair Salman and Talha Chaudry.

Woofy is designed to make animal rescue faster and more efficient. Users can report a case in just a few minutes using the app’s intuitive interface. Upon opening the app, users tap the green “Report Now” button and select the category of the case—Injured, Abused, or Abandoned. The app then prompts users to provide essential details such as the animal’s location, a picture, a contact number, and any additional notes that may help rescuers respond more effectively.

The app features separate profiles and dashboards for reporters and rescuers. Reporters can track the status of their submitted cases in real-time, while rescuers can manage and respond to reports efficiently. This dual-dashboard system ensures clear communication and faster coordination between the public and rescue volunteers.

To enhance the rescue process, Woofy has partnered with veterinary clinics and hospitals, making it easier for rescuers to locate nearby facilities. The app also highlights clinics offering discounted services for rescued animals. Plans are underway to introduce dedicated transportation services for animal rescue, enabling safe and quick transport to veterinary care centers.

Currently, Woofy is operational in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with plans to expand to other cities in Pakistan. The app is available on both iOS and Android platforms via the App Store and Google Play Store, making it accessible to a wide range of users.

Animal welfare experts say the app could significantly improve the response time to animal emergencies and ensure that more animals receive timely medical care. By leveraging mobile technology, Woofy aims to streamline animal rescue operations, connect volunteers and veterinarians, and raise awareness about the importance of animal welfare in Pakistan.

The launch of Woofy marks a major milestone for animal rights and technology-driven social impact in Pakistan, providing a platform where communities can come together to protect and care for vulnerable animals.
