Video sharing platform TikTok removed more than 22 million videos in Pakistan during the final quarter of 2025 as part of its enforcement of community guidelines, reflecting the scale of moderation activity on digital platforms operating in the country. According to its latest transparency report, the platform took down 22,990,460 videos between October and December 2025 for violations ranging from inappropriate content to breaches of safety and integrity policies. The removals were carried out as part of the company’s broader effort to maintain platform standards and ensure compliance with its global content rules.
A notable aspect of the report is the high level of automation and speed involved in the moderation process, with TikTok stating that 99.9 per cent of the removed content in Pakistan was identified and taken down proactively before being reported by users. The platform also indicated that 98.4 per cent of the flagged videos were removed within 24 hours of being uploaded, highlighting the increasing reliance on artificial intelligence and automated detection systems in content moderation. These systems are designed to scan large volumes of user generated content in real time, enabling platforms to act quickly against material that does not comply with established guidelines while maintaining operational efficiency at scale.
The data from Pakistan forms part of a wider global enforcement effort, with TikTok reporting that over 175 million videos were removed worldwide during the same period, representing a small fraction of total uploads on the platform. The figures underscore the challenges faced by large scale digital platforms in balancing user engagement with regulatory compliance and community standards. As user generated content continues to grow, platforms are increasingly investing in advanced moderation technologies to manage risks associated with harmful or misleading material while ensuring that content ecosystems remain functional and accessible.
Pakistan has remained a significant market in terms of content moderation volumes, with previous reports also indicating consistently high numbers of removals linked to guideline violations.
