The Sindh government has approved the purchase of 1,000 additional Pink EV Scooties for women as part of its continued efforts to expand electric mobility and strengthen the province’s public transport infrastructure. Alongside this initiative, the government is also moving forward with plans to expand the mass transit network through the introduction of new intercity Peoples Bus Service routes. The decision was reviewed during a meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department chaired by Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon, where multiple ongoing and upcoming transport projects were discussed in detail.

According to officials, the provincial administration is preparing to launch intercity bus services in several key districts, including Larkana, Dadu, Sehwan, Hyderabad, and Sanghar in the coming weeks. These new routes are part of a broader strategy to improve regional connectivity and provide affordable transport options for daily commuters traveling between urban and semi urban areas. In addition to intercity expansion, Sharjeel Inam Memon also announced the introduction of new Peoples Bus Service routes connecting Khairpur and Rohri as well as Khairpur and Ranipur, with operations expected to begin next week. These routes are intended to enhance intra district mobility and reduce travel constraints for residents in these areas.

Officials further stated that the transport network in Karachi will also see expansion with the addition of more EV buses and double decker buses. These vehicles are being introduced to improve passenger capacity and upgrade urban mobility services in the province’s largest city, where demand for public transport continues to grow. The inclusion of electric vehicles aligns with the government’s broader focus on environmentally friendly transport solutions, aiming to reduce emissions while improving accessibility and service quality for commuters across Sindh. Authorities noted that the integration of EV based transport is expected to gradually modernize the provincial fleet and support long term sustainability goals.

During the meeting, officials reviewed ongoing and planned initiatives related to Peoples Bus Service expansion, EV taxi services, and the distribution of Pink EV Scooties. The minister directed relevant departments to resolve registration related issues associated with the Pink EV Scooties project on a priority basis to ensure timely distribution and smooth implementation. The discussion also covered operational challenges and administrative requirements for scaling up electric mobility programs across different districts of the province.

Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the Sindh government is focused on providing modern, safe, and environmentally friendly transport facilities across the province, with particular emphasis on supporting women, students, and daily commuters. He highlighted that initiatives such as Pink EV Scooties and expanded bus services are designed to improve mobility access while promoting sustainable transportation alternatives. The government’s ongoing investment in EV based mobility and public transport infrastructure reflects its continued efforts to enhance urban and intercity connectivity across Sindh through structured transport planning and service expansion.
