The Punjab Water and Sanitation Authority held a meeting with the Punjab Information Technology Board to discuss integrating PWASA’s services into Chief Minister Punjab’s Maryam Ke Dastak platform. The meeting brought together PWASA Additional Director General Headquarters Zamir Hussain and PITB Additional Project Director Ammad Zia to discuss how water and sanitation services could be incorporated into the broader citizen services platform.
Also present at the meeting were PWASA’s Director IT and GIS, Samreen Ashraf, and Business Development representative Muhammad Taimoor, alongside PITB team member and Assistant Program Manager Wasif Ali Sikandar. The presence of PWASA’s own IT and GIS director in the discussion suggests the authority already has some internal technical capacity that would need to be aligned with PITB’s systems as part of any integration process, potentially easing the technical work required to connect the two platforms. It was agreed that Maryam Ke Dastak will serve as a key platform to provide citizens across Punjab with PWASA services, making essential water and sanitation services more accessible, convenient and citizen centric through technology enabled service delivery. Bringing water and sanitation services onto a centralized citizen services platform could allow residents to access PWASA related services through the same channel they might already use for other government services, rather than needing to navigate a separate system specific to water and sanitation matters.
Maryam Ke Dastak has been positioned as a broader citizen services initiative under the Punjab government, and the integration of PWASA’s services adds another department to the platform’s growing scope. This kind of integration typically requires close technical coordination between the department providing the service, in this case PWASA, and PITB, which manages the underlying digital infrastructure for many of Punjab’s citizen facing platforms, to ensure that service requests, complaints or applications submitted through Maryam Ke Dastak are properly routed to PWASA’s own systems for processing without delays or data mismatches between the two.
The meeting adds to a broader pattern of Punjab government departments working with PITB to bring their services onto shared digital platforms, reflecting the province’s ongoing effort to consolidate citizen facing services under fewer, more accessible digital channels rather than requiring residents to interact with each department through separate, siloed systems. As PWASA and PITB move forward with this integration, further details on the specific services to be made available and the expected timeline for the rollout are likely to follow in subsequent engagements between the two organizations.
