Healthpoint, which is part of the M42 healthcare group, has partnered with Proximie to introduce surgical intelligence powered by artificial intelligence (AI) across its main operating rooms in Abu Dhabi. The initiative was announced on October 23, 2026, and it aims to improve surgical coordination, scheduling and the efficiency of operating rooms. The technology will help clinical and operational teams monitor surgical activity as procedures progress. It aims to identify potential delays earlier, to support better scheduling decisions and to improve the use of the operating room capacity that already exists, and Healthpoint will become the first hospital in the M42 network to implement the platform.
The platform of Proximie uses AI models that are supported by the cloud infrastructure of Amazon Web Services (AWS). It analyses surgical activity throughout the day and helps teams anticipate what may happen next, so staff can track operating room schedules, spot emerging bottlenecks and adjust their plans as circumstances change. The deployment will cover all operating rooms at Healthpoint and support its surgical procedures. The system will also help teams to follow surgical lists in real time, rather than relying only on manual updates or on reviews that take place after procedures have finished.
The platform aims to improve coordination among surgeons, anaesthesia specialists, nurses and perioperative teams. By highlighting potential pressure points earlier, it can help staff prepare for upcoming cases and manage available resources more effectively, and as a result hospitals may reduce avoidable delays and make better use of existing operating room capacity. Omar Al Naqbi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Healthpoint, said that the partnership would give teams a real time view of surgical activity, and he added that earlier insights could help staff anticipate challenges, coordinate care and plan with greater confidence. Proximie founder and CEO Dr Nadine Hachach-Haram said that the platform converts information generated during surgery into practical guidance for clinical teams.
The agreement follows a memorandum of understanding that was signed during the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit, and it supports wider efforts in Abu Dhabi to bring advanced technology into healthcare delivery. The partners also see potential for the experience to inform wider adoption across the M42 network. The initiative reflects a growing use of AI to improve hospital operations and clinical workflows, although its practical impact will depend on implementation and on how well teams use the information that the system produces. The announcement sets no specific targets for reducing surgical delays or improving patient outcomes, and the aim of both partners is to make surgical schedules more predictable and resource planning more effective.
