Punjab Information Technology Board organised a cheque distribution ceremony at Arfa Software Technology Park in Lahore under its Global IT Certifications Program, recognising young professionals who successfully completed internationally accredited information technology certifications. The initiative is part of the provincial government’s efforts to support technical skills development and improve access to global certification opportunities for students and professionals in Pakistan’s technology sector.
During the ceremony, PITB Chief Financial Officer Nadia Riaz, Chief Technology Officer Adil Iqbal Khan and Chief Information Security Officer Sajjad Ghani distributed fee reimbursement cheques ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 200,000 among more than 40 participants belonging to different academic and professional backgrounds. The event was also attended by PITB Director Skills Development Chaudhry Ahmed Islam along with other senior officials. According to PITB, the programme has been designed to provide financial assistance to individuals pursuing internationally recognised certifications in information technology and related disciplines.
Officials stated that the Global IT Certifications Program aims to help aspiring professionals improve their technical expertise and remain competitive in an increasingly technology driven global employment market. The initiative supports certifications in fields including cybersecurity, cloud computing, networking, software development and other specialised technology domains. PITB officials noted that internationally recognised certifications have become increasingly important for professionals seeking employment opportunities with multinational companies and foreign clients.
Participants who received reimbursements appreciated the programme and said the financial support had helped them pursue advanced certifications that may otherwise have been difficult because of high examination and training costs. Several beneficiaries stated that globally recognised credentials improve career prospects and create better opportunities for remote work, freelancing and international employment. Industry observers believe such initiatives can also contribute to increasing Pakistan’s skilled workforce at a time when demand for certified information technology professionals continues to rise globally.
PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf said the Government of Punjab is taking practical measures to align young people with the demands of the international digital economy. He stated that programmes focused on technical education and certifications not only help individuals improve their professional capabilities but also contribute to Pakistan’s wider digital development efforts. Officials added that professionals gaining international certifications are expected to play an important role in supporting the country’s growing information technology industry and digital services sector.
