A young Pakistani founder has caught attention online after successfully securing a free one-year domain renewal from GoDaddy by doing something most people would consider a long shot: writing a cold email directly to the company’s chief executive officer. Unable to afford the sixty dollar renewal fee for his website, the teenager turned to an unconventional solution at a moment when his project was at risk of going offline.

According to the account shared by the founder himself, he had come across a widely circulated cold email template and took the time to rework it specifically for his own situation before sending it to GoDaddy’s top executive. Rather than a generic plea, the message was tailored to reflect his personal circumstances, and that attention to detail appears to have made a difference. A screenshot shared by the founder shows a response from GoDaddy’s Office of the Chief Executive Officer confirming that his email had been reviewed and that the domain had been renewed for one additional year as a one-time courtesy. The response also advised him to keep a valid payment method on file and ensure that auto-renewal was enabled ahead of the next renewal date, signalling a practical rather than purely charitable intent behind the gesture.

The story spread quickly online, drawing attention not because corporate goodwill is unheard of, but because of how straightforward the approach was. A teenager, a financial constraint, and one carefully composed email managed to solve a problem that would have otherwise ended his project prematurely. For many young founders operating with limited resources in Pakistan’s growing startup and freelancing ecosystem, where dollar-denominated costs can be disproportionately steep relative to local purchasing power, the episode resonated as a reminder that direct communication with decision-makers is sometimes more accessible than it appears. Whether or not the approach scales, it has already inspired a fair amount of discussion about the value of initiative and clear, honest writing when conventional options are out of reach.
