A Pakistani developer has built SafeAI, an artificial intelligence powered emergency and disaster response application designed to bring critical information and practical safety tools together on a single platform. Created by AI Automation Specialist Najeeb Zahra, the web based application uses Google Gemini to provide users with step by step guidance during emergencies, while also offering access to hospital locations, weather information, emergency contacts and disaster preparedness resources. The project has been developed with Pakistan’s exposure to floods, earthquakes and other emergencies in mind, where access to timely and reliable information can be important during a crisis.

At the center of SafeAI is an AI Emergency Assistant powered by Google Gemini, which allows users to ask questions during emergency situations and receive sequential instructions. The platform goes beyond a conversational assistant by bringing several emergency related utilities together. Its hospital finder uses live data to help users locate nearby medical facilities, while weather updates provide current conditions and alerts. An emergency directory keeps important contact numbers available through the platform. SafeAI also includes standardized disaster guides covering situations such as earthquakes and floods, giving users access to predefined safety steps that can be consulted when immediate guidance is required.

The application also includes an emergency toolkit with features designed for situations where conventional communication and navigation options may be limited. Live location sharing can provide a user’s coordinates to help rescuers identify their position, while battery diagnostics allow users to check the remaining charge on their device. A digital compass is also included to assist with orientation when electricity or other infrastructure is unavailable. Zahra said the main objective behind the project was to make emergency information and practical tools more accessible through one platform, particularly when people need quick and reliable guidance. The application is currently available as a web based service hosted on Vercel and has been developed using technologies including React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, application programming interface integrations and GitHub.

The development of SafeAI also reflects the growing use of artificial intelligence in disaster preparedness and emergency management. Zahra said AI was used throughout the development process not only for generating code, but also for planning, debugging, understanding implementation approaches and developing features. The project gave the developer practical experience in combining artificial intelligence with web technologies to address a real world challenge. SafeAI is designed around the need for information to remain accessible during emergencies, including circumstances where users may have limited connectivity or slower mobile networks. However, wider adoption would require continued data updates, institutional partnerships and integration with emergency services so that information remains accurate and useful. The project could provide a basis for further collaboration between developers, technology organizations and public institutions working to improve digital disaster response capabilities in Pakistan.
