The government has implemented stringent measures to bolster security during the upcoming Muharram processions, including a nationwide suspension of cellular phone services and internet blackouts in key areas.

Sources confirmed that mobile services will be completely suspended across the country on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. Additionally, internet services will be disrupted along primary procession routes on Youm-e-Ashura. These restrictions will be enforced in all provinces, including Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.

The Punjab government has adopted a more targeted approach, suspending mobile services only in areas adjacent to procession routes and majalis. Major cities like Lahore, Kasur, and Sheikhupura will experience partial service disruptions, while others like Multan and Sahiwal will have uninterrupted services.

Similar restrictions are expected to be imposed by the Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan governments to ensure the safety of mourners during the sensitive period.
