National Broadband Network Forum 2024: A Step Towards Digital Pakistan

The National Broadband Network Forum 2024, organized by PTA in collaboration with Huawei, concluded successfully in Islamabad. The event, held under the theme “Gigabit for All,” brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss the future of broadband connectivity in Pakistan.

Chairman Senate, Yousaf Raza Gillani, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He emphasized the critical role of broadband connectivity in driving economic growth and social development. While acknowledging the significant progress made in increasing broadband penetration to 59%, he urged continued efforts to bridge the digital divide and ensure universal access.

Minister of State for IT, Shiza Fatima, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the telecom sector and accelerating digital transformation. She highlighted the importance of collaboration between the government, industry, and international partners in achieving this goal.

Chairman PTA and Secretary Ministry of Information Technology (MoIT) also addressed the forum, emphasizing the need for innovation and collaboration to build a digitally inclusive Pakistan. They underscored the importance of expanding broadband infrastructure, improving network quality, and promoting affordable internet services.

Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of Jazz, a leading telecommunications company in Pakistan, praised PTA’s leadership in fostering a conducive environment for the telecom industry. He highlighted the role of strategic partnerships with technology leaders like Huawei in driving digital innovation and improving connectivity.

Huawei’s CEO reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s digital transformation journey. The company has been a key partner in the country’s telecom sector, providing advanced solutions and technologies.

The National Broadband Network Forum 2024 provided a platform for industry stakeholders to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore future opportunities. By bringing together experts from various sectors, the forum aimed to accelerate the development of a robust and resilient broadband infrastructure in Pakistan.
