ISLAMABAD: National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has rolled out a major update to its Pak-ID mobile application, introducing new features designed to make identity registration more convenient and accessible for citizens.

The latest update focuses on simplifying processes for families, particularly parents of young children. NADRA confirmed that the app now allows parents to upload photographs directly from their mobile gallery while applying for a Child Registration Certificate (CRC) or identity card for children under the age of three. This change removes the need for parents to visit NADRA service centres in person, cutting down long queues and saving valuable time.

Alongside the photo upload option, the update delivers several other significant enhancements. Citizens can now update records of unregistered family members directly through the application, ensuring family data stays accurate without requiring repeated visits to registration centres. NADRA has also enabled a feature for biometric-free access, allowing applications to be submitted without mandatory fingerprint or facial recognition. This step broadens access for users who may have difficulty providing biometric data, such as elderly citizens or those with limited mobility. An improved Urdu interface has also been introduced, strengthening language support and making navigation and instructions easier for native speakers.

These changes are part of NADRA’s broader strategy to modernize services under its Pak Identity program, which aims to deliver a fully digital experience for Pakistani citizens. In addition to the newly introduced functions, the Pak-ID app already supports real-time tracking of applications, online appointment booking at NADRA centres, and secure fee payments through digital wallets and payment services including Easypaisa, JazzCash, and e-Sahulat. By consolidating all key services in one platform, NADRA is moving closer to its goal of reducing reliance on physical visits to registration offices.

NADRA has urged citizens to download or update the Pak-ID mobile app, available on both Android and iOS platforms, to take full advantage of the new features. The authority noted that the upgrades build upon earlier updates to the app, such as the application status tracking feature, which allowed applicants to monitor the progress of their CNICs, B-Forms, and Family Registration Certificates (FRCs) without visiting centres. This development reinforced the agency’s commitment to offering citizens more control and visibility over their identification processes.

With all core services related to identity documents now integrated into the Pak-ID mobile application, NADRA is aiming to provide a seamless, secure, and user-friendly system for millions of Pakistanis. The authority continues to emphasize that its digital-first approach is designed to reduce administrative hurdles while strengthening accessibility for people across the country.
