The newly merged telecom entity comprising Pak Telecom Mobile Limited and Telenor Pakistan has formally appointed Mudasser Shafiq as its Chief Financial Officer, elevating him from the acting Chief Financial Officer role he had held at Telenor Pakistan to full leadership of financial strategy for the combined organisation.
Shafiq brings over 18 years of telecom industry experience to the position, combining a strong technical financial background with the strategic and commercial perspective that a merged entity navigating complex integration across two previously separate organisations will require. He holds an MBA in Finance, is a qualified member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and completed an Executive MBA from the Lahore University of Management Sciences, giving him both professional certification and executive-level academic grounding for the role. In his previous capacity at Telenor Pakistan, he successfully oversaw financial strategy, governance, and reporting functions while maintaining strict financial discipline and managing critical risks throughout the ongoing organisational transformation that preceded the merger’s completion.
The appointment comes shortly after the Islamabad High Court granted final clearance for the Ufone-Telenor merger on June 30, 2026, providing the legal foundation for the combined entity to proceed with full operational integration under a unified structure. Shafiq’s confirmation as Chief Financial Officer signals that the merged organisation is moving to establish its permanent senior leadership team as it advances through the network and digital migration phases of the integration process. His leadership is expected to play a vital role in ensuring financial stability, driving execution discipline, and providing data-driven insights to support enterprise-wide decision-making as the organisation evolves toward operating under the unified global e& brand identity. The appointment follows a broader set of leadership changes at the merged entity, with PTML also assuming control of Telenor’s 345 headquarters in Islamabad as the operational handover progresses.
