JazzWorld, a leading connectivity provider in Pakistan, in partnership with Universal Service Fund, has announced the launch of the Badin Project, a PKR 668 million initiative aimed at extending reliable mobile voice and broadband services to underserved communities in District Badin. The agreement was formalized at a ceremony in Karachi, attended by the Honorable Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, and Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, underscoring the government’s commitment to inclusive digital access. The project seeks to address long-standing connectivity gaps by deploying new infrastructure, upgrading existing telecom sites, and delivering high-quality mobile and broadband services to communities that have historically remained on the margins of Pakistan’s digital economy.
The Badin Project will deploy 45 new telecom sites and upgrade four existing locations, providing reliable voice and high-speed mobile broadband to 144 unserved and underserved mauzas, reaching an estimated 430,000 residents. The expanded network will facilitate access to digital financial services, online education, telehealth, and government e-services while equipping small businesses and farmers with modern digital tools. In addition to improving service delivery, the initiative is expected to generate both direct and indirect employment opportunities during construction, deployment, and ongoing operations, reinforcing the socio-economic impact of enhanced connectivity in rural areas.
Aamir Ibrahim, CEO of JazzWorld, highlighted the strategic importance of connectivity in fostering inclusive growth. He emphasized that partnerships with the Universal Service Fund and the Ministry of IT & Telecom enable communities to participate in the digital economy regardless of geographic constraints. Similarly, Chaudhry Mudassar Naveed, CEO of USF, stated that the project reflects a continued commitment to bridging the digital divide and delivering tangible socio-economic benefits at the grassroots level. Both leaders reinforced that improved broadband access will play a critical role in supporting local development, connecting citizens to essential services, and fostering new opportunities for entrepreneurship and employment.
The Badin Project builds on the longstanding collaboration between JazzWorld and USF to expand digital access across Pakistan. By combining private sector expertise with government support, the initiative exemplifies sustained efforts to connect underserved communities, enhance participation in the digital economy, and advance JazzWorld’s mission of delivering a Better Life for All. Through projects like these, Pakistan continues to strengthen its telecom infrastructure, ensuring that rural populations gain equitable access to technology, services, and economic opportunities.
