Pakistan’s 5G rollout is gaining momentum, with reports confirming that more than 300 5G sites are now operational across major cities and key locations. Jazz has activated 180 sites while Zong has brought 150 sites online, collectively providing service to over 2,254 devices across 103 mobile brands. The deployment reflects a coordinated strategy led by Spectrum Investment Fund Company (SIFC), alongside the efforts of PTA and the Ministry of IT. The initiative is expected to enhance connectivity, boost mobile internet speeds, and enable new digital services for consumers nationwide.

Pakistan Software Houses Association praised the launch of 5G as an important milestone for the country’s digital development, recognizing the contributions of the Prime Minister and government stakeholders. Advisor to the Finance Minister, Khurram Shehzad, emphasized that the availability of 5G spectrum will improve both speed and quality of internet services, supporting the growth of digital infrastructure across the country. Analysts note that the deployment not only addresses current consumer demand for high-speed mobile connectivity but also lays the groundwork for emerging applications in sectors such as fintech, e-commerce, and cloud services.

Investment in Pakistan’s 5G sector has been substantial, with three major international players—Etisalat, China Mobile, and VEON Group—committing more than $500 million during the spectrum auction. Jazz, owned by VEON Group, has additionally pledged $1 billion over the next three years for expansion and network upgrades. Such capital inflows signal confidence in Pakistan’s technology market, with analysts predicting that these investments will support sustainable growth, foster innovation, and create opportunities for startups and established firms operating in digital services and mobile applications.

The availability of 5G services across multiple brands and devices also highlights the potential for rapid adoption by consumers, bridging the gap between urban centers and other regions. With infrastructure and investment aligned, Pakistan is poised to see an accelerated pace of digital transformation, including improvements in mobile commerce, smart services, and enterprise solutions. As the 5G rollout continues, both providers and users can expect enhancements in coverage, reliability, and service quality, marking a significant step in strengthening Pakistan’s technology and communications ecosystem.
