On the Beach has made its way to PC after debuting on PS5 in June 2025, delivering a fresh wave of engagement for both new and returning players. Fans who enjoyed the first Death Stranding on PC had long anticipated this port, and initial sales data suggests strong interest. According to Alinea Analytics, the Steam version has sold approximately 425,000 copies since release, contributing to overall sales that now surpass the two million mark when combined with the 1.6 million copies sold on PS5, most of which came during the initial launch period. The PC release has also coincided with a PS5 sale, further boosting console sales, which aligns with previous trends observed whenever discounts were offered.

Analyst Rhys Elliot highlighted that the PC launch represents a renewed opportunity for players who had not yet experienced the game on console. He noted that the Steam version already accounts for 21 percent of total copies sold. In terms of revenue, Death Stranding 2 has generated more than $110 million on PS5 and $32.6 million on Steam. With sales on Epic Games Store included, total revenue has surpassed $150 million. This performance demonstrates the ongoing appetite for high-quality narrative-driven titles, particularly as they become accessible to wider audiences across multiple platforms.

The timing of the PC launch not only attracted new players but also re-engaged some PS5 owners who may have delayed their purchase initially. The port serves as a kind of renewed launch for the game, offering PC players a fresh experience that benefits from the console edition’s refinements. Alinea Analytics’ report shows that synchronized releases and promotional pricing continue to be effective strategies in driving both sales volume and revenue. The initial performance suggests that narrative-rich titles like Death Stranding 2 can maintain momentum long after their first console debut, particularly when expanded to PC audiences.

In comparison to other notable releases, Alinea Analytics also reported that Bungie’s new extraction shooter, Marathon, has sold around 1.2 million copies, while MegaCrit’s sequel, Slay the Spire 2, recently reached an updated estimate of five million copies sold. These figures provide context for Death Stranding 2’s success and reflect trends across genres, showing strong demand for both action-oriented multiplayer and strategic single-player experiences. The PC release has clearly reinvigorated interest in the game, and the continued cross-platform performance will likely influence how future narrative-driven titles approach staggered launches.
