Zong has announced that its 5G network is now operational in twenty seven areas across Karachi, marking another expansion of next‑generation mobile services in Pakistan’s largest city. This deployment comes as part of a broader commercial rollout following the operator’s recent nationwide launch of 5G services in multiple cities, building on the momentum from the 5G auction and initial coverage in urban centers. With metropolitan hubs and key public locations now included in the coverage footprint, subscribers in Karachi can access 5G connectivity on compatible devices in more parts of the city than before.

Among the areas where Zong’s 5G service has been confirmed active are major transit and institutional zones such as Jinnah International Airport, Tauheed Square, NED University, and IBA Karachi. In addition to these, numerous commercial and residential precincts have begun to receive 5G Signals, reflecting the operator’s efforts to expand coverage beyond core business districts and into neighbourhoods with significant footfall and demand for faster data speeds. Although Zong’s 5G coverage is still rolling out gradually across Pakistan’s telecom landscape, this step highlights the company’s focus on deepening connectivity in Karachi, where demand for high‑speed data services remains high.

The deployment in Karachi also aligns with Zong’s broader strategy since securing its 5G licence earlier this year, enabling the operator to launch services in more than a dozen cities nationwide. The network’s expansion has been part of a phased approach that initially focused on major urban hubs including Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar, before progressively extending coverage to additional regions. This city‑level expansion has coincided with a nationwide rollout that now sees Zong 5G live in multiple cities, forming one of the more extensive commercial footprints in Pakistan’s 5G ecosystem.

While 5G availability marks a significant step forward for mobile connectivity in Karachi, subscriber experiences vary depending on device compatibility and exact location within the city. Early reports from user discussions indicate that not all devices can immediately pick up 5G Signals and that some smartphone models still require carrier and handset updates to enable full support, particularly in select urban zones. In spite of this, the activation of 5G in twenty seven distinct areas underscores the growing accessibility of advanced mobile network technology in Karachi, setting the stage for broader adoption as coverage continues to expand and more compatible devices enter the market.
