Jazz has issued a public advisory warning its customers about a rise in increasingly sophisticated digital fraud schemes targeting mobile and broadband users across Pakistan, urging vigilance against phishing attempts, fake reward offers, impersonation scams, deceptive calls, and fraudulent messages that are designed to create a false sense of urgency and legitimacy in order to steal personal and financial information.
The operator has specifically flagged instances where fraudsters are misusing the Jazz name, branding, and corporate identity to circulate deceptive messages that appear to come from the company itself. These messages typically contain suspicious links, claims of exclusive rewards, prize notifications, account-related alerts, or requests for personal verification intended to trick customers into taking immediate action without pausing to verify the source. The use of a familiar brand name and professional formatting makes these messages considerably harder to distinguish from genuine communications, lowering the guard of recipients who might otherwise be cautious about unsolicited contact.
Kazim Mujtaba, President of Jazz GSM, stated that fraudsters are increasingly using messages, calls, and links that appear genuine, making scams harder to detect, and encouraged customers to verify the source of any communication that creates urgency or promises rewards before taking any action. He stressed that customers should never share passwords, Personal Identification Numbers, one-time passwords, or financial information in response to unsolicited contact, adding that a few moments of caution can prevent significant financial and personal loss. Customers can verify the authenticity of any offer, promotion, or account-related communication through official Jazz channels including SIMOSA, the Jazz website, verified social media accounts, and customer care.
Jazz also reminded customers that through SIMOSA, they can review and manage all active Value Added Services and subscriptions linked to their accounts, providing an additional layer of visibility and control that can help identify and remove any services that may have been activated without the customer’s knowledge. The advisory follows the directive issued by PTA earlier this week requiring all four major operators to publish and promote Unstructured Supplementary Service Data codes for managing active subscriptions, reflecting a coordinated regulatory and industry effort to improve transparency and reduce the financial harm caused by unauthorised service activations and digital fraud across Pakistan’s mobile ecosystem.
